Turn on Dope Spin
Make sure the DopeSpin is powered and on. If it's not, plug it in and turn it on.

Click Connect
Plug Dope Spin into this computer with a USB-C data cable, then click Connect.

In the window that opens, select USB JTAG/serial debug unit and click Connect.
Click Start repair, select Dope Spin in the window that opens, and click Connect. The repair then runs by itself.
Don't see it in the list? Flip the connector.
The connector only works one way up. Unplug the cable from Dope Spin, turn the connector over, plug it back in, and click Connect again.
Try 1 Plug it in Try 2 Connector turned over "No compatible devices found" means the connector is the wrong way up, or the cable is charging-only.
Tip: when you find the way that works, put a small mark on the top of the connector so it's easy next time.

Click Update
Connect Dope Spin in step 2 first.
Choose a different version
Older versions may not read newer profile data. Use the latest version unless support told you otherwise.

Do not unplug until it's done
The update takes about 1 to 2 minutes. Keep Dope Spin plugged in and this tab open. When it's finished, Dope Spin restarts on the new version and this page shows "Update complete."
Still not working? Troubleshooting
Dope Spin is not in the list
- Flip the plug at Dope Spin (turn it over 180°) and plug it back in. This fixes it most of the time.
- Try a different USB-C cable. Many cables only charge and can't carry data.
- Plug straight into the computer, not through a hub, dock, or monitor.
- Make sure Dope Spin is on and plugged into this computer, the one running this page.
- Use Chrome or Edge on a computer. Phones, tablets, Safari, and Firefox can't run updates.
- Close any other app or browser tab that might be using the device.
Something went wrong during the update
- If the check says "does not look like a Dope Spin device," make sure Dope Spin is on, then try again.
- If the installer says it failed to initialize, unplug Dope Spin, plug it back in, and click Connect again.
- If an update stopped halfway, contact support for a recovery link. Hold the button, then turn Dope Spin on with USB already plugged in. Recovery starts as soon as the device shows up.
- If Dope Spin won't start after an update, run the update again and keep it plugged in until it says complete.
- In the installer, the chip should say ESP32-S3.
